Engage in consistent action

As a start-up entrepreneur business may be slow in the beginning & this may discourage you or lead you to be too relaxed. I am of the opinion that it is important at this infancy stage of your business to be engaged in consistent action.

You could do marketing activities on social media or word of mouth, or you could keep cold calling clients. Your actions must keep your brand on the mind of your target market. However, keep costs in mind.

Researching the industry & competitors is also a very good task while you are waiting for business to pick up. Knowledge of an industry is very important & will help when faced with challenges and also when you have to set prices. You can also use this time to read books on entrepreneurship, marketing, sales or anything else that will help you in your journey. Attending workshops, seminars, conferences & other events where you will meet fellow entrepreneurs is also a good investment during this time. Again, keep costs in mind.

It is advisable to do budget projections before launching/starting, these will help give you an idea of how long your business will survive while you’re still building a client/customer base. It is important to be as realistic as possible when doing budget projections, it is no use over estimating your ability to survive, only to find yourself in deep waters later on.

The reality is that sometimes your business will pick up right from the beginning, depending on the industry, but it may also take time to pick up. Be patient, be innovative & engage in consistent action. Just ensure your action will ultimately benefit your business.

Power confession: I will be patient & engage in [profitable] consistent action.
